The TJ goes Android: The dash gets modded.

Update time! I needed to get the Nook mount in place, and modify the center bezel. I had a lot of options when it came to mounting, but I wanted to keep it simple, and by default reliable. If it won’t take abuse, it’s not worth putting in a Jeep. So, I decided to utilize my existing Quadratec iVault. It

The TJ goes Android: Starting the install

When I start most projects, I like to have a pretty good plan in place. With the TJ, I decided to take a different approach. Although I had the concept outlined, I knew there were so many things that would get adjusted on the fly. Compared to some of the other things I’ve done, this is a relatively simple project.

The TJ goes Android

Wow, it seems my front page has not been getting the love it deserves lately, so I’m about to change that. I’ve admittedly been spending a lot of time in the Losias forums lately. It’s populated with the best group of modders, tech enthusiasts, and friends a guy could ask for. A few other side projects have also been taking

The interior assembly gets fiber!

The interior assembly gets fiber!

Update time! I actually livestreamed the fiber going down, although it was a huge pain. For some reason I thought it was a good idea to skip taping the edges of the fiber. Needless to say those stray fibers soon became a problem as the layers went down. I managed to keep them out of the way, and got 5

The interior mold continued…

The interior mold continued…

Although Project Hutch has been getting most of my time lately, I was able to get a little work done on OSIDIAS while waiting for some JB Weld to dry… I picked up on the continuation of the molds for the interior assembly. When I last updated, I had the inner mold completed. Now it was a matter of laying

The Romaxx CNC router arrives!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Are you guys ready for this?

Well, it’s finally arrived! Thanks to Ron Rogers of Romaxx for making this possible. What you are about to see is the unboxing of a shiny new HS-1 CNC router.

This machine is considered a tabletop CNC, and as such, doesn’t take up a lot of space. Since I work primarily in small form factor, this will fit 99% of every need I have. Even though it’s a compact design, this thing arrived to me in a 125 pound box. 105 pounds of that is the machine itself. If weight is any indicator of strength, then this thing is a beast.

So, shall we look at a few pics of this thing?

The box…

The forums are live!

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Finally, after much thought and a little hard work, I’ve decided to add forums to losias.net. I look at it as one more way to build a community centered around small form factor modding. There are many sites dedicated to modding full-size rigs, but I’ve always appreciated the work it takes to mod a much smaller box. That’s what I’ve been doing for years, and I know I’m not the only one. So, in addition to my own work, I’ll be featuring rigs from the forums on the front page as well. These forums are dedicated to all those that think like I do, and love going small… in a big way.

Now, a quick backstory…  Some of you visiting this site may not even realize where the name Losias came from. I did have a project called L.O.S.I.A.S. of course, but how many have wondered what those letters meant? Well, here it is…  Lots Of Stuff In A System.  That right there explains it all.  It’s what I do, it’s the focus of this site, and I’d love to build a community around others that feel the same way.  Let’s get those squeaky clean forums violated!  Um, okay,  well maybe not violated…  So, register today!

Losias Live test update

Posted by: | Comments (2)

I made a little time this afternoon for a live streaming test. From the feedback I received, I realize there are a few small changes I need to make. The biggest of which, is lighting quality. While the workbench appears to have plenty of light in person, once on camera it appears a little different. It’s spotty, and there are some distracting shadows. I plan on using track, and multiple lighting sources to fix the problem. Look for that to be implemented in the next week or two.

From what I could tell, the picture quality seemed pretty decent. I’m using a Microsoft webcam for the time being, and am looking at several 720p cameras to replace it. There’s no doubt a little detail missing at the moment, but I think I’m headed in the right direction. If it’s not bad now, it will only get better.

For any of you who did catch the stream, please feel free to comment on any other changes I could make. This is completely new territory for me. I’m open to to anything that could improve quality and usefulness.
